Costume source was founded by entrepreneur Aleksis Gailans in 2017.
Each time he hired costumes for his own dance schools, he got really frustrated with the process.
The poor communication, the tedious ordering process and never really knowing what would actually arrive!
He knew it could be done better.
With his background in business, technology and live events, Aleksis set out to make dance costume hire better.
Costume Source was born.
The mission was simple:
make everything really easy.

- A straightforward ordering process with clear pricing (so costumes can be booked, paid for and confirmed in one process).
- Great costumes, that look great but also are properly packed and labelled.
- Easy shipping and returns.
- And most importantly, great service so the customer is kept informed along the way.

We hand-pick every style of costume we stock, ensuring our customers get the highest quality, best looking garments.
To continue this, we are now working direct with manufacturers to create stunning new costumes to our demanding specifications.

Costume Source is still the only dance costume hire company to show live stock availability and allow customers to book and pay for their hire in one straightforward process.
Our systems are custom written to serve our exact needs - no one else uses anything similar. This helps to make us really efficient and create an excellent experience for our customers.

Every single costume is rigorously inspected by hand.
All bookings are prepared and packed with care.
Costumes are sent out in costume bags and we only use new boxes, so you can be sure everything reaches you in top condition.
You can even see who prepared your booking when we ship it.
We'll email you when we send your booking out, when it is time to send it back and when we've checked it back in, so you are kept informed at every step.
If you contact us, you won't get some automated response or someone replying using a script, you'll talk to a real person - one of us.
We are a small team of people dedicated to giving you great service, great costumes and making sure you have a great show.
We have great costumes and a great team of people, but we won't do this at the expense of the environment.
The energy we use is from renewable sources and all our packaging is sustainable and recyclable.
We've also eliminated single-use plastic from everything we do.
You won't find plastic packaging tape or mailing bags here. Our mailing bags are actually made from sugarcane!
