Hire your Dance Costumes to Plant Trees!

Why more sequins means more trees!

Costume Source Sep 11, 2020

We've always taken our environmental responsibilities very seriously.

Hiring your dance costumes is already much better for the environment than buying them, but we aren't stopping there:

Each time you hire costumes from us, we will plant trees.

We've partnered with Eden: People+Planet, a global non-profit who plant trees and restore habitats all over the world.

Employ to Plant

The great thing about Eden is that they employ the local villagers in each location to plant, maintain and nurture the trees.

This way of working starts by giving villagers a decent income and as healthy forests begin to emerge, the negative effects of deforestation start to disappear.

Communities benefit both in the long and the short term.

So many benefits

Reforestation has so many benefits apart from just carbon reduction:

Animal habitats are restored, rainfall patterns are restored, water tables rise and purity improves, flooding and soil erosion stops and soil quality improves. This leads to increased crop yields, better access to food, improved local economies, a decrease in extreme poverty and even a reduction in villagers at risk of slavery.

Project Regions

Trees are planted in regions all over the world, including Nepal, Madagascar, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, Honduras and Nicaragua.

Doing the right thing

When you hire your dance costumes from us, we will make a donation to Eden: People+Planet to plant a certain number of trees.

There is no cost to you, and you don't need to get your hands dirty - we take care of everything!

Sizing Tips

The most important measurement is the Girth.

If a dancer is between two sizes, always opt for the larger size.

Because we stock lots of different styles from lots of different manufacturers, we standardise our sizes to make it easier for you.

Girth
With them standing straight, measure from the top of one shoulder, down the fullest part of their chest, through their legs and back up to the same shoulder.

Bust
With their arms down at their sides, measure the fullest part of their chest.

Waist
Ask them to bend to one side and place the start of the measure at the natural indentation. Once they have straightened up, measure from this point around the waist.

Hips
With their feet together, measure around the fullest part of their hips and bum.

Inseam
With them barefooted, measure the inner leg from their crotch to the floor.

All dimensions are in centimeters and should be treated as a guide only.
