We love our staff so it's only right that we commit to pay them fairly.
We are delighted to announce that Costume Source has today accredited as a Living Wage Employer.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum.
Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Costume Source receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.90, significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £9.50 per hour.
Aleksis Gailans, Founder and Managing Director of Costume Source says:
"As a business, we're massively customer-focused, but we also look after our staff. We employ a brilliant team of people and want them to love working for us and keep providing the fantastic service they provide to our customers. It's only right that we commit to paying them fairly."
Costume Source is based in the South West of England, a region where almost a fifth of all jobs pay less than the real Living Wage. Despite this, we have committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work - even if that work does include glitter and sequins!
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said:
"We’re delighted that Costume Source has joined the movement of almost 9,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
"They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Oxfam, Burberry, Barclays, Ikea and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Costume Source, believe that a hard day's work deserves a fair day's pay."
As a company we have always had a dedication to doing things properly. We feel this accreditation continues our mission to do the right thing.
