What you need to tick off now for your summer show
If you are holding a summer show, the countdown is on!
With about two months to go, now’s the perfect time to get organised and stay ahead of the game.
Here’s your show prep checklist for this stage:
Lock in the details: Make sure your show dates, times, and venue are confirmed. Ensure all licences, chaperones, helpers, and essential checks (like DBS) are in place and up to date. Speak with your insurers about appropriate show cover. And don’t wait — begin drafting your running order now.
Choreography & Rehearsals: Most of your routines should be choreographed or nearly there. Finalise your rehearsal schedule and secure any extra studio time you need.
Costumes: Now’s the time to finalise your costume choices, gather measurements, and organise sizing bookings. If you haven't booked your costumes yet, you need to do this urgently before the summer rush.
Music & Tech: Sort out your show tracks, start edits if needed, and touch base with your lighting and sound techs. If you are having your show filmed or photographed, book your photographers now.
Communication & Admin: Keep parents and dancers in the loop with rehearsal dates and ticket info. If you are charging show or costume fees, start collecting these now.
Budgeting & Planning: Set your show budget and begin tracking expenses. Decide on your ticket pricing and sales timeline.
Promotion Begins: It’s never too early to start the buzz — get your marketing underway and tease the show on socials! Your pupils are your most powerful ambassadors. When they’re genuinely excited, that energy is infectious — and they’ll naturally become your biggest promoters.
Let the excitement begin — and remember, we’re always here to help with any of your costume needs!

The most important measurement is the Girth.
If a dancer is between two sizes, always opt for the larger size.
Because we stock lots of different styles from lots of different manufacturers, we standardise our sizes to make it easier for you.
Girth
With them standing straight, measure from the top of one shoulder, down the fullest part of their chest, through their legs and back up to the same shoulder.
Bust
With their arms down at their sides, measure the fullest part of their chest.
Waist
Ask them to bend to one side and place the start of the measure at the natural indentation. Once they have straightened up, measure from this point around the waist.
Hips
With their feet together, measure around the fullest part of their hips and bum.
Inseam
With them barefooted, measure the inner leg from their crotch to the floor.
