Getting started

A.K.A: Everything you always wanted to know about Dance Costume Hire (but were afraid to ask...)

If you have never hired your dance costumes before (or never hired from Costume Source), this is for you!

getting started

You order

Choose your perfect styles from our massive range of costumes!

Sizing

Because we stock lots of different styles from different manufacturers, we standardise our sizes to make it easier for you. Make sure you check our size guide!

Dates

The Start Date is the date you want the costumes to arrive by. It's best to at least give a few days between this and when your show starts.

The End Date is the date you send the costumes back to us. Most people make this one or two days after their last performance.

Our standard hire is 14 days. We find this works best for most people so they can fit in rehearsals, photos and performances.

The price displayed next to each costume is for up to 14 days. You can hire for longer, but you'll have to pay a bit more. This depends on how long extra you hire for and is displayed in the basket page.

Making Amendments

You can make amendments to your booking right up until about a week before your booking starts. Just follow the instructions within your booking.

If the value of your booking goes under what you have already paid, the difference will be credited to your Costume Source account. Any amounts outstanding will need to be paid before we send your costumes out.

Naming Costumes

You can add names to each of the costumes in your booking.

These get printed on the costume bag, which is great for organising everything and makes your dancers feel like pros!

This is also a really quick way to make sure you haven't missed anyone off your order...!

We're here for you

You can contact us at any time via email, phone, Whatsapp, FB Messenger or clicking the Help button at the bottom of the screen.

Our dedicated customer care team will go out of their way to help you and answer any questions you might have.

We send

Everything gets shipped direct from our Sparkle Fulfilment Center in Bristol.

Picking

We normally start picking your booking about a week before it starts. When it shows as Picking, we're getting everything ready to send out to you.

At this point your booking gets frozen, and you can't make any changes to it any more.

Shipped

As soon as your booking is shipped, you'll get an email notification from us and full tracking details from DPD.

Our costumes are sent #ShowReady in individually labelled costume bags, so they are ready for you and your dancers as soon as you open the box.

DPD deliver

Beautiful #ShowReady costumes delivered to your door.

Delivery

Bookings get sent out by DPD on a next-day service, but delivery to the highlands and islands take longer.

You'll get a 1-hour delivery slot from DPD the morning of delivery.

Remember to keep the boxes as you'll need them to send everything back!

Costume Care

It's best to keep costumes in their bags when not being worn.

They need to be kept clean, dry and away from extreme heat or cold.

It is best not to give out costumes to dancers to take home, as they remain your responsibility whilst on hire.

You don't need to wash costumes as we take care of all of that when they return.

You return

It's really important you return our costumes to us on time. You need to send them back to us on the last day of your hire.

Via a Parcel Shop

If you have one or two boxes, you can return them via a local parcel shop.

We'll give you a QR code the shop can scan, and they'll take care of the rest.

Collections

If you have three or more boxes, we'll arrange with you for DPD to collect everything from an address of your choice.

Confirmation

As soon as we start processing your return, you'll get an email confirmation.

We'll check everything is there, clean it and then prepare it for the next customer to hire.

Sizing tips

check_circle The most important measurement is the Girth.

check_circle If a dancer is between two sizes, always opt for the larger size.

check_circle Because we stock lots of different styles from lots of different manufacturers, we standardise our sizes to make it easier for you.

Girth
With them standing straight, measure from the top of one shoulder, down the fullest part of their chest, through their legs and back up to the same shoulder.

Bust
With their arms down at their sides, measure the fullest part of their chest.

Waist
Ask them to bend to one side and place the start of the measure at the natural indentation. Once they have straightened up, measure from this point around the waist.

Hips
With their feet together, measure around the fullest part of their hips and bum.

Inseam
With them barefooted, measure the inner leg from their crotch to the floor.
